Get ready for a truly decadent dessert casserole experience. This recipe for 4-Layer Robert Redford Dessert, also known as "Better than Sex Cake", is sinfully delicious. The first layer of this easy dessert casserole recipe is made from a combination of flour, butter, and pecans. After the pecan shortbread crust has baked in the oven, it is topped with a layer of sweet cream cheese filling, a layer of creamy chocolate pudding, and whipped topping. A sprinkling of chopped pecans finishes this 4-Layer Robert Redford Dessert. If you take this to a potluck, everyone will be asking you for the recipe!

I've had similar desserts to this, but not quite this specific recipe. I like the shortbread layer as well, and I agree it could be used for a variety of other desserts. I'd like to give this a try with walnuts or peanuts instead of pecans. I'd also like to include a bit of almond extract in the cheesecake mixture. I think the combination of that with the chocolate pudding layer would be very good.

I love the pecan "short bread" base layer in this recipe. I could imagine using this as a base for many other desserts, like a cheesecake or under blueberry cream pie for example. You could add whatever toppings you like here - I'm thinking I might like to put on some heath bar bits or even some broken up oreo cookies. Yum!

This sounds like a dessert my aunt likes to make. I will have to make this and see if it's the same recipe!
