Boston Cream Hokey Pokey Cake
Once the jello poke cake recipe was born, it was inevitable that Boston cream pie would be adapted to become one. Boston Cream Hokey Pokey Cake is made with a yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding, and chocolate frosting. It tastes just like the beloved pie. This cake is super simple to make and you're sure to enjoy it. Make it for a crowd or just for your family. This pudding poke cake is better the longer it sits, too, so you can make it ahead of time for a big event or special occasion.

My daughter is going to love you for this cake recipe. She wants anything and everything to do with Boston cream pie flavor. I can't wait to make this and surprise her. Does it make a big difference whether you use the chocolate icing or chocolate pudding? I guess the flavor profile would be different.

Hi SissieSass, Chocolate pudding wouldn't be as sweet. It also might "bleed" into the vanilla pudding more than the frosting would, but I think it would work as a substitution. --Kaitlin, AFCAS Editor
