I have been looking at several of the shepherd's pie recipes on this casserole site, and I was a little bit curious about something. What is the difference between a British shepherd's pie and a traditional Irish one? They seem to have very similar ingredients. They all look really yummy to me!

Traditionally, Shepherd's Pie is only made with minced lamb (the clue is in 'Shepherd'! when minced beef is used, the correct name is Cottage Pie (although there's no sign of a cottage anywhere!)
