Could I use canned and pitted cherries instead of fresh? I really want to make this dish, but the cherries are out of season right now and I have several cans of them in the cabinet that I need to use for something anyway. I can see using them up on this recipe and having a few extra for friends. A little whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and its perfect.
