Ramekins are one-serving baking dishes. Kuchenprofi's French ceramic ramekins (set of four) measure 4" x 2". Their small size makes them perfect for serving individual casseroles, gratins, and crème brulee. They also come in handy during food preparation by holding chopped nuts, sugar, and spices.
 

Kuchenprofi's ramekins can withstand oven temperatures up to 500 degrees F., and will keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold. These mini casserole dishes, as I like to call them, are not high maintenance, as they are microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe. I find this handy for many reasons. If someone arrives late for dinner and I've made mini casseroles for everyone, I can pop his or her ramekin in the microwave to heat it up. And when dinner is over, I can let the dishwasher clean up instead of washing each ramekin by hand.
 

This fall, I took advantage of the fresh produce from a local pumpkin patch and made kale gratins, using the Kuchenprofi ramekins, of course. I loved them. I think single-serving dishes add something special to presentation because food looks so cute when it's mini. I actually made the kale gratin in both the ramekins and a casserole dish, and I liked the ones in the ramekins better. The kale was more compacted in the ramekins and ended up being crispier, which I loved.
 

I think ramekins are a kitchen must-have for food enthusiasts, and the Kuchenprofi set of four ramekins are terrific.
